2023 marks the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, established after the horrors of the Second World War where 'disregard and contempt for human rights have resulted in barbarous acts which have outraged the conscience of mankind'. We want to reflect on contemporary violence in Israel and Gaza and the human rights implications of armed conflict that continues to exact a high toll on civilians. The talk will include human rights experts from the School of Law who have worked in Israel/Palestine as well as in other countries dealing with armed conflict.
