Developing an IYCF-E Plan for the Island of Ireland
The Covid-19 pandemic, the formula crisis in the US, supply chain issues due to Brexit, and the war in Ukraine cause (and continue to cause) myriad public health issues. One of the most serious is the risk of morbidity and mortality to infants and young children. This conference will present the findings to date of a two-year HEA-funded project that examines potential emergency scenarios on the island of Ireland and how these could affect the supply of food to infants and young children. We discuss whether the respective governments in either jurisdiction are ready in such an event to ensure that the most vulnerable in society have access to adequate food.
