Employer Zone

Employer Zone

We aim to help employers identify and capitalise upon the knowledge and skills built within our student base, resulting in immediate benefits for employers in addition to spillover benefits for the wider Northern Ireland economy.  We recognise the critical importance of the School’s collaboration with business, and view engagements as including (but not limited to):

  1. ensuring that the information, advice and guidance law students are given about the knowledge and skills they will need to enter particular professions and sectors is accurate and current;

  2. facilitating and supporting work placements and internships, to provide students with valuable work experience;

  3. developing curricula and learning materials, in addition to identifying learning-related research projects.  These would be industry relevant projects which students can work on, allowing them to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills – with the end goal of upskilling students so they are more job-ready.

We hope that via joint and sustained efforts, our collaboration with industry will assist in aligning graduate skills and expectations, with the needs of employers.

Forging Futures

The School of Law is well placed to play its part in collaborating with employers, to provide a supply of highly qualified graduates which meet the demands from businesses, both now and in the future. The School seeks to further embed its strong employer links and has a variety of touchpoints with employers which foster this ongoing dialogue. Find out more

Student Placement

Some QUB School of Law courses have inbuilt placements, such as the LLM International Business Law, whereas others have no compulsory element.  Nevertheless, the School would encourage all students to source and undertake voluntary work experience, as it offers considerable value in terms of personal and professional development. Explore what some of our students have gained on the programme.  Find out more
