Professor Louise Mallinder admitted into Royal Irish Academy
Congratulations to Professor Louise Mallinder on her elevation.
At a distinguished ceremony in Dublin, Professor Louise Mallinder of the School of Law at Queen's University Belfast has been officially admitted into the Royal Irish Academy as an elected member, in recognition of her exceptional contributions to the humanities and social sciences.
As one of only 28 elected members from across Ireland, Professor Mallinder, who also serves as the Deputy Director at the Senator George J. Mitchell Institute for Global Peace, Justice and Security, has been honoured for her distinguished contributions to scholarship and research.
Since its establishment in 1785, the Royal Irish Academy has been honouring Ireland’s leading contributors to the world of learning. Each member is formally admitted in a special ceremony, during which they subscribe to the Member’s Declaration of Obligations and sign the Roll Book of Members. Past members have included Nobel laureates WB Yeats, Ernest Walton, Max Planck, Erwin Schrödinger, and Seamus Heaney.
Commenting on her election, Professor Mallinder said: “I feel extremely honoured to have been elected a member of the Royal Irish Academy. I am looking forward to being part of its community of leading experts from the sciences and humanities and to supporting the Academy in its work to serve the public good through promoting academic research and knowledge.”
Professor Joan Loughrey, Head of the Law School added, "This is very well deserved recognition of Professor Louise Mallinder’s exceptional contribution to the social sciences. I am delighted for her and offer my fullest congratulations on behalf of the School of Law, Queen’s University Belfast."
