SCHOLARSHIPS

High quality applications to QUB Law have a good record of success in scholarship competitions:

All applicants who are eligible and who have submitted a full application by the funding deadline will be considered for Northern Ireland Department for the Economy (DfE).

For AHRC Northern Bridge awards, a full application (in line with the guidance here, ie, including a 1,500 word proposal) must have been submitted by QUB’s deadline for this competition - Tuesday 7 January 2025 at 16:00. The application form must mention your interest in being considered for this particular award: (i) tick ‘I will apply separately to an external body’, then (ii) enter NBC25 under ‘To which body do you intend to apply?’

For ESRC NINE awards, a full application (in the line with the guidance here, ie, including a 1,500 word proposal) must have been submitted by the QUB’s deadline for this competition - Monday 20 January 2025 at 16:00. The application form must mention your interest in being considered for this particular award: (i) tick ‘I will apply separately to an external body’, then (ii) enter NINE25 under ‘To which body do you intend to apply?’

For LINAS awards, applications are due by Friday 31 January 2025 at 17:00 for a October 2025 intake. The application form must mention your interest in being considered for this
particular award: (i) tick 'I will apply separately to an external body', then (ii) enter LINAS25 under 'To which body do you intend to apply?''

For Queen's-China Scholarship Council (CSC) awards, applications are due by Tuesday 21 January 2025.  Applicants are required to complete an online Queen’s-CSC scholarship declaration form in order to aid identification of those Chinese candidates who wish to be considered for joint funding.  This form can be accessed from the How to Apply link on the Queen’s-CSC scholarship webpage.  This is an essential part of the application process and therefore candidates are required to complete and submit this online form as well as their PhD online application form. All applicants are expected to have satisfied the English language requirement of IELTS Academic, overall band score 7.0 with not less than 6.5 in any component by the application closing date of 21 January 2025.

For awards such as those from the Wellcome Trust or Universities Ireland, eligible applicants must hold an offer from QUB Law before proceeding to an application to the funder for a scholarship.

For information on some of the other awards for which applicants may be eligible, see here.
