Undergraduate Scholarships

The School has a number of scholarships and awards which are available to undergraduate students.  These include:

The Andrew Mark Godden Prize

This prize will be awarded annually to a graduate from the most recent undergraduate cohort in the School of Law. The prize of £300 will be awarded to the graduate with the highest overall mark who meets other required criteria.

The AA Sherrard Prize

This prize is awarded to the undergraduate student with the highest mark in the assessment of module 'Land Law' LAW2045.

The Arthur Cox Prize

Awarded to student with highest mark in ‘Contract Law’ LAW2040.

Brickfield Exceptional Student Scholarship

Awarded to the undergraduate student who joins the School from BAC with the highest average grades.

Brickfield Travel Student Scholarship

Awarded to undergraduate Brickfield student with highest marks entering Year 2

Cost of two return economy flights to Malaysia

CAJ Prize

The prize will be awarded to the undergraduate student who submits the highest marked essay on an aspect of civil liberties. Essays should be submitted to law.office@qub.ac.uk by Friday 2 July 2021 at 4pm

The Carson McDowell LLB Foundation Scholarship

The Scholarship will be awarded to the undergraduate student with the highest overall average mark in Year 1 of the LLB programme.

The Carson McDowell LLB Foundation Scholarship

The Scholarship will be awarded to the student with the highest overall average mark in Year 2 of the LLB programme.

The Clare Palley Undergraduate Award for Gender and the Law

The award will recognise the best essay or dissertation written by an undergraduate student of any level in the area of gender and the law. Essays should be submitted to law.office@qub.ac.uk by Friday 2 July 2021 at 4pm

Co. Antrim Grand Jury Bursary Award

To assist students in expenses and outlays (including the cost of books approved by the School of Law) for legal research/studies involving visits outside NI in pursuance of their legal studies.

DJ Hill Prize

This prize is awarded to the undergraduate who submits the highest marked essay in the field of Commercial Law. Essays should be submitted to law.office@qub.ac.uk by Friday 2 July 2021 at 4pm

Foundation Scholarships Year 1

These scholarships are awarded to the top 3 performing undergraduate students in Year 1 of LLB UG degree

Foundation Scholarships Year 2

These scholarships are awarded to the top 3 performing students in Year 2 of LLB UG degree

The Glendowan Scholarship

Awarded to full-time second year undergraduate with best academic performance over two years.

Herbert Smith Prize

This prize is awarded to the undergraduate student with the highest mark in the Contract module LAW2040/LAW3044.

£250 direct from sponsor

 

JMK Solicitors Scholarship

This prize is awarded to awarded to the student on Pathway Opportunity Programme with top mark in Torts.

Amount: £3000 (can be split max of 3 students)

 

Law Fund Bursary (LA Externship)

This prize is awarded to the 2nd or 3rd year undergraduate student with the highest academic standing over the greatest number of modules.

Law Society Prize

The prize is awarded to the undergraduate student with the highest mark in the Dissertation modules LAW3001 Research Project A or LAW3041 Research Project B.

Lexis Nexis Butterworth Law Prize (Year 1)

This prize is awarded to the undergraduate student with the highest overall average in the Year 1 assessments for the degree of Bachelor of Laws.

£100 value of Lexis Nexis publications

Lexis Nexis Butterworth Law Prize (Year 2)

This prize is awarded to the undergraduate student with the highest overall average in the Year 2 assessments for the degree of Bachelor of Laws.

Lord Chief Justices Prize

The prize is awarded to the undergraduate student with the highest mark in the Rights and Accountability module LAW1024.

Lord Lowry Prize Year 2

This prize is awarded to the undergraduate student with the highest average mark in Level 2 assessments.

This prize is awarded to the undergraduate student with the highest average mark in Level 3 assessments.

Magee Scholarship

Awarded to full-time second year undergraduate student who is taking the first semester of their final year abroad at one of the following universities:

  • Washington University Law School
  • Shantou University, Southern China
  • Newcastle University, New South Wales, Australia
  • Syracuse University, New York
  • University of Massachusetts, Lowell

McKane Medal  

The medal is awarded to the final year undergraduate student with the highest overall average over three years of their LLB Single Hons degree programme.

The bursaries will be awarded to two undergraduate Law & Language students achieving highest marks in Year 2 summer exams

Oxford University Press Law

Prize

This prize is awarded to the undergraduate Single Hons student with the highest overall average across the three levels of study.

Rory Conaghan Prize and Cup

The prize is awarded to the undergraduate student with the highest mark in the Evidence module LAW3002 at Level 3.

£200

Senior Status Scholarship

This scholarship is to be awarded to new entrant who produces best Vlog entry on why they deserve the award. The prize will be awarded to the successful student once they commence their studies at Queen’s University. 

Applicants for this scholarship are required to submit a video of no more than 3 minute duration explaining why they are planning to study Law at Queen’s University Belfast.

Stanley Maurice Austin Memorial Prize

The prize is awarded to the undergraduate student who submits the highest marked essay on a topic of constitutional law, public international law or private international law as selected by the School. Essays should be submitted to law.office@qub.ac.uk by Friday 2 July 2021 at 4pm

Sweet & Maxwell Prize

This prize is awarded to the undergraduate student  with the highest average mark at Level 3.

William Staunton Memorial Prize

This prize is awarded to the undergraduate student with the best overall mark in Criminal Law module LAW1025.
