Qingran Yan secures the prestigious Vice Chancellor International Research Scholarship
Welcome to the School Qingran!
Qingran commenced her PhD in October 2024 after securing the prestigious Vice-Chancellor International Research Scholarship. Her research will focus on anti-carceral feminism and its influence on Chinese legal discourse surrounding violence against women.
Qingran says “I am excited to begin my PhD journey at Queen’s University Belfast, supported by the Vice Chancellor International Research Scholarship, and under the guidance of Professor Aoife O’Donoghue and Dr. Eithne Dowds. This research work will allow me to explore important inter-disciplinary connections between feminist legal theory and transformative justice. As this area becomes increasingly important in shaping more just and equitable legal frameworks, I’m thrilled to be contributing to such meaningful research that has the potential to make a real-world impact.”
Professor O’Donoghue shared “Qingran's research is extremely timely, focusing on an urgent question on continuing violence against women but also how countries, and feminism should respond, her thesis is going to make an important contribution to these debates.”
Qingran will be supervised by Professor Aoife O’Donoghue and Dr Eithne Dowds.
